Off-grid Solar Project
This is where the solar power adventure begins. The first item on the agenda is to build a "power station"
(Figure 1) which will house all of the equipment.
If all goes according to plan, I should be able to complete the power station by Mid-Nov 2006.
The system that we plan to install includes:
- 6 - Trojan L16HC (395 A/H ea)
- 4 - Kyocera K130 solar panels
- Prosine 2000 pure sine wave inverter and charger
- Xantrex Powercenter
- Yamaha EF-4300 generator
10/25/06 - All items have arrived except the Kyocera PV panels
10/28/06 - Construction of the power station begins!!
11/13/06 - Construction well underway, here are some pictures.
11/26/06 - SOLAR ON-LINE! Unfortunately, our Kyocera PV panels have not yet arrived so we are generating power with
our generator on an interim basis. Our batteries provide about 4-5 days of power between charges.
12/17/06 - Kyocera panels arrived, installed and working great!
